چکیده

To detect unsuspected arrhythmias, 60 patients with previous myocardial infarction were studied by both submaximal treadmill exercise testing and 10 hours of continuous ECG monitoring (Holter technique) during normal activity. Significant arrhythmias were detected in 28 of 60 patients (47%). Eight patients (13%) had one or more premature ventricular contractions on their resting ECG and all had significant arrhythmias detected by exercise and/or Holter monitoring. Eighteen patients (30%) had frequent ectopic beats during

Detection of dysrhythmia in pediatric patients with mitral valve prolapse.

The association of dysrhythmias with mitral valve prolapse in pediatric patients was investigated by graded treadmill exercise testing and 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitoring. Twenty-six unselected patients with a clinical diagnosis of mitral valve prolapse confirmed by echocardiography or angiocardiography or both were studied. On 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitoring, six patients (23%) had potenti...

Efficacy for Ventricular Tachyarrhythmias Using Ambulatory Monitoring and Electrophysiological Techniques

Sustained ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation are life-threatening arrhythmias with high rates of recurrence.1'2 Empiric antiarrhythmic drug therapy has a low success rate for preventing recurrences of these arrhythmias.3 Therefore, the choice of drug therapy has centered around two methodologies to predict drug efficacy: programmed ventricular stimulation with serial drug test...

Design and Evaluation of a Pressure and Temperature Monitoring System for Pressure Ulcer Prevention

Introduction Pressure ulcers are tissue damages resulting from blood flow restriction, which occurs when the tissue is exposed to high pressure for a long period of time. These painful sores are common in patients and elderly, who spend extended periods of time in bed or wheelchair. In this study, a continuous pressure and temperature monitoring system was developed for pressure ulcer preventio...

Transtelephonic electrocardiographic monitoring for the detection and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

TTEM as a means for ambulatory arrhythmia detection and management of cardiac patients has demonstrated the potential for considerable clinical utility. Because it is easy to use, relatively inexpensive, and highly effective in aiding in the diagnosis of various cardiac arrhythmias, it may be a preferred mode of surveillance for a number of cardiac patients of all ages. TTEM is presently used m...
